1.Critical thinking is the making of reasoned judgements after thoroughly thinking them through instead of just accepting one answer or conclusion. Haidt discusses that vindictive protectiveness can be seen as an impediment to critical thinking on campuses today because it is devoted to “policing speech and punishing speakers”.
2. The reasoning for the regulations on campus is to prevent harassment and unequal treatment. “Programs that are considered to divide people or make an uncomfortable and environment” are removed before someone can be offended or a problem can occur. I do not agree with these regulations because I believe just because a few people have an issue doesn’t mean the whole thing should be removed. There should always be a warning and if there is a problem it should be taken serious but people should also learn to develop thicker skin.
3. Fortune telling and trigger warnings can be considered a good thing and be appreciated by some but they can also “anticipate that things will turn out badly”. I believe this is true because whenever a trigger warning is presented for an event more times than not it is associated with something bad or assumed that something bad is going to occur.
